Safeway & Seattle Children's Hospital Commercial

Art Director & Casting Assistant
Hand Crank Films just wrapped filming a commercial for Safeway about their philanthropy within the cancer research realm. While this was only a 30 sec commercial it plays out like a short film; there was a lot to be done. Spending several weeks in casting calls with the Producer/Director for this project we were finally able to lock in our top choices. While assisting in casting calls for principle talent I was also the casting director for extras.
Setting the stage: In addition to casting I was the Art Director/set dresser. Our first day of filming was primarily in the recovery room that was set up to appear like a private hospital room. A few tricks here and there to create the right environment, and we were set. Day two was in a hospital hallway. While we were in a hospital we were in a hallway outside of a reception area; not ideal for what we were trying to create. With a little inspiration from adjoining hallways I moved things around to make it appear as if it were in the back hallways of a medical facility. I had a great time working with
